A new 1,000,000 gallon Elevated Water Storage Tank is being constructed at 10026 Harrisburg Road. Lancaster County Water & Sewer District has contracted Caldwell Tank Co. to construct the tank. This infrastructure is needed to support increasing water demands in the area. The tank is known as a Composite Elevated Tank because it has a concrete support pillar and when completed it will have an enclosed steel storage tank at the top of the structure. The tank will be approximately 140 vertical feet to the high water elevation. In the picture above, this new tank in the foreground will replace the existing 500,000 gallon traditional leg tank which can be seen in the background; currently located beside Southern Spirits adjacent to US Hwy 521. The new tank is scheduled for completion in the 3rd quarter of this year and the demolition of the existing tank will begin in the 4th quarter of this year.
